The skier you refer to was Buddy Werner, who died later that year in an avalanche near St Moritz, Switzerland. While Werner was probably the best US ski racer at the time, fellow Steamboat resident Jim “Moose” Barrows probably garnered more noteriety with his infamous crash at the Chamrousse DH course in the 1968 Winter Olympics, which of course was won by Jean Claude Killy.

In this week’s SR article, you alluded to the famous flip into Corbet’s Couloir by Tom Leroy in the movie “Ski the Outer Limits.” This is one of the first ski movies I ever saw, and that scene made a lasting impression upon my mind, which was probably about 11 yrs old at the time. However, you attributed the film as the work of Barry Corbet. While Corbet did work in the film, it was co-produced by Roger Brown.
