All the hills in the Woodstock – Pomfret area are numbered. In 1934, as skiers rode the first rope tow on Gilbert’s Hill, some skiers hiked over to check out hill #6. After looking down “the face” Bunny Bertram commented that it would be suicidal to ski down Hill #6. In 1936 he opened “Suicide Six” as a ski area. There is a trail that bears his name – “Bunny’s” that is still open today. The Bunny Bertram Masters race is held every year in his memory.
Come 25th Jan I will be heading to France and slipping on my old SX52’s, they are still in good nic (not used emough due to the cost of skiing) and very comfy. No idea when I got them but the 80′ I guess, they’ve even been to Antarctica when I worked down there for ANARE.
