1962 according to the book “Ski Pioneers of Stowe, Vermont”, page 76. That was 5 years before I took my first run down a mountain at the ripe old age of 23.
Hi Greg
Greg Dirmaier here. It was 1983 and when built the lift base area was supposed to be the courtyard of a new condominium hotel which was to be called the “Inn at the Mountain”. It was to be a major expansion of the existing Toll House Inn (see separate email to you showing rendering from sales brochures) and would transport all the guests from the complex to the main mountain. The 52 new luxury units were being sold as investments rather than real estate and the project was registered with the SEC. After a few years of sales effort in a market with 19% interest rates, a national gasoline shortage and act 250 permit issues, the Toll House project was abandoned. Later the focus of the real estate development would be Spruce Peak with the Over Easy connection to the mountain.

I believe the toll house double was installed in 1981. My dad Phil Tomlinson built the lift shacks, it was one of the first years I worked construction for him. We also built a show home in the parking lot.

The New England Ski Lift database has it as being installed for the 1983-84 ski season. So, the year of installation was 1983.
While it is a slow lift The 15 minute ride gives one some time to reflect on things.

John beat me to it, 1983-84 season. The triple started in the 85-86 season, replacing the t-bar, and the quad in 86-87.
Best,
