This week’s trivia question is a little different as I’m asking for your input.
What length were the first pair of skis you bought for yourself?

My parents bought me used Hexcel Comp skis with the aluminum honeycomb core. They were straight and stiff, perfect for a beginner, at least that was what the person that sold them to my parents said. We paid $100 for them, that’s about $600 in today’s dollars. I went to Blue Knob Resort in central PA with a college ski club and beat myself to a pulp on them (well I was on them some of the time). It wasn’t until I was 44 that I started alpine skiing again. The Excel ski company’s story is quite retro at this point.

That first pair of skis – Fischer Quick Supers with the Cubco bindings – were 170’s. I was in 7th grade and one of the smallest kids in my school.
