Who was the last Canadian woman to win a slalom Gold medal in either the World Championships or Olympics? And a follow up, what U.S. woman had to settle for the Silver that year?

the mail delivery is so bad these days that we are getting out paper weeks late! I would have answered the Val D’isere question as well. I spent a lot of time there in 1975-1976. I t was one of my home bases while I raced the Europa Cup as the only American! I had a French ski racing friend whose mother owned a small hotel and I stayed with them and skied there quite a bit. What an amazing mountain. Back then they stamped the date on your ticket. A group of Americans who lived there figured out how to use something to remove the date and then would stamp the next days date on the ticket. We did that for days until it looked worn out and then we would have to buy a new ticket. I can remember skiing powder at the top in the spring and would find foot deep wet corn snow at the bottom. The whole gambit in one day. We would often ski areas in the morning that were that amazing softening corn – off piste of course and then leave it till the next day. So much to ski. It is fun remembering that! It was around the time you were there.
I had my knee replaced in November so am just starting to ski again! Hope to see you up there. Today was stupendous!!
