HI Greg. James Niehues did the wonderful graphics of so many ski resorts—as much artistry as they were trail maps.
So, given the weather forecast there’s a better-than-even chance I’ll be having coffee tomorrow (Friday) at Green Goddess rather than the Octagon–hope to see you there.

Yes, James Niehues is possibly the only map maker that still paints them with gouache water colors! I emailed with him a few years ago in answer to a request he had for an apprentice. That would have been a dream job. Maybe still possible ? =}

James Niehues is noted for his artist’s renditions / drawings of ski area trail maps.

Those were the best, 60’s and 70’s maps, be nice to get reprints to frame.
