A bota is a leather wineskin. It is kidney shaped with a cord attached that you slung around your neck and under your opposite arm so that it was easy to share with your girlfriend. Only admitted to by people who grew up skiing in the 1960’s.
Greg, I don’t have a jingle for the BOA because I have another jingle from the 60s in my head that I can’t get rid of. It came from National Transportation Safety Board’s commercial that went like this “Buckle up for safety, buckle up. Buckle up for safety always buckle up.” I just can’t go back.
Sorry I’m late on this – my friend Kevin usually had a bota with him – under his parka – while skiing. Sometimes a swig of apricot brandy was a reward for a couple of solid runs on a cold morning. I can confess this – we were of legal drinking age – and we skied and drank responsibly!
